Avatar general back up.

I think steam makes a back up of your avatar but because of the bug that reset some avatars after a patch a couple of months back I looked into were it is stored on my PC and I think I have found it.

Some of the numbers may be different than I have below for example you may have a different number in place of 46495157.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\46495157\34330
Inside the 34330 folder is a file called remotecache.vdf another folder called remote which seems to have files for the avatar and userdata.

I don't know if making a back up copy of this would save your avatar as I have not tested it but it may help heh.

Steam keeps its own files for your game so even if you backed up any you are not able to place them on Steam.
For example: Any files you you delete from your game setup steam will automatically download new ones to replace them.
Best not to change them, just in case.
