So whatever you do: DO NOT RESET YOUR SKILLTREE.
With thanks to KocmocOkay, after talking to many guys who got the same problem. Im almost sure, that this is the reason:
Everyone of those guys who got the avatar reset, did respecc their avatar something into leadership.
DONT touch the avatar skilltree!!!!
Im 99% sure. I cant tell you, if its a certain skill or if its the whole tree, just dont touch it.

Re: Avatar resets.
hmmm, do you mean dont use the 5 clan tokens to re-arrange all skill points?
Or do not change anything and dont even put newly earned skillpoints in?
The latter would be really annoying.
I hope it is the former. Do we know this?

Re: Avatar resets.
From what I understand, the advice is not to use the skill points.
This could also include the Clan Tokens because they are used to change things in the Skills Tree.
It would be very annoying to anyone else to get their Avatar downgraded after all the hours spent getting the higher star levels.
As the game stands at present you are not able to get your ranking back. You have to start all over again.
I have Clan Tokens and also Skill Points available but will not be using them until it is certain that my Avatar
will not be reset.
When more information becomes available this topic will be updated.

Re: Avatar resets.
I have leveled up my Avatar with out issue if you look at the TWC topic she thinks it was because she some how spent 21 tokens not 20 odd. Any way I think ill avoid resetting mine for the time being.
I think the mystery is solved. The problem involves a bow specialized avatar who is reset. If you reset your avatar upon having points spent, then leave the skill point window for any reason (say to test out a sampling of points, but not spend them so you can redo), you'll get bugged with a point in "Extra Ammunition." If you then proceed to spend your 20 skill points in any manner, you'll actually end up with 21, triggering the anti-cheat software which purges your data. So if you're a bow specialist and you reset, or if you see a point you didn't spend for any reason, I highly recommend only spending 19 skill points. You'll just have to accept that you're screwed out of 1 skill point until they fix the bug.

Re: Avatar resets.
There is another topic about this on the TWC now by Kuarlos he reset his avatar and was left with a point in in bow ammo and did not want to chance it so he rest it again and the point disappeared.
Hopefully if this is the cause CA can fix it in a patch soon.
