ETW MP Connections.

Post  ^Glyndwr^ on Mon 31 Aug 2009, 18:49

Fed up with not being able to host or join all games.

BT Home Hub Router a problem.

Made up my mind to go ahead and buy a new Router.

Bought a Linksys Wireless-G ADSL2+ Modem Router and confirmed (on the box) that it is Vista compatable. Wink

Edit:
The news we have all been waiting for......

Tomi and I tested hosting link ups....

Tomi can join my hosted game....

I can join Tomi's hosted game....

We can go to the battle field and the units charge each other.... bounce cheers

Edit:
Did two tests with Marcus. Each of us hosted in turn. Success!!!!

Now at last we are able to do battle together, as and when we want to. Just like old times in other TW games. Smile

Our new member Zerg cannot join our games. No response from host message.

He has a BT Home Hub so we know what the problem is. Twisted Evil

I find it extraordinary that BT offer your Linksys router at half the price of their Homehub that it out-performs. Any chance to return the Hub for replacement? For a cheaper item it should be so, if not ask their Tech support why the Hub is so incompatable for online gaming. Just a thought....
Only other solution is to buy a Linksys and inform BT that you will advise gamers not to use their hardware.

As the Hub is supplied free I dont think BT would be all that concerned.

I have discussed the problems with BT Tech Support but unfortunately talking to a person in India just doesn't get your problem 'across'. I am convinced that they work from a pre-printed instruction sheet.

The first part I have already done. I am seriously considering informing BT that I am already advising gamers to disconnect their Hub and use another brand of Modem/Router.

Well the BT home hub was free for me too, an till I got ETW it was fine heh.

What is strange is it does not block every game. I hosted a 1v1 and the rematch with some guy yesterday.

The same with me.

I was able to host or join a game at random. Maybe one game in thirty attempts. Not a good thing.
Some players were able to join others got the No Response messages.

With this Linksys I am now able to join any game.

So far, only Zerg and The Duke are unable to join my hosted games.

Perhaps both of these players are using a BT Home Hub????
